Lot Mowing & Brush Cutting

This is the work the trade calls bush hogging: a rotary cutter on a skid steer, taking down growth that a mower deck cannot touch. We cut overgrown lots, easements, outparcels, drainage rights of way and retention pond banks across Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade, either as a single cut to get a property back under control or on a schedule that keeps it there.

What We Cut

There is no height we will not take. Growth that has gone above head height, dense brush, saplings and vine-tangled fence lines all cut with the same equipment, and there is no acreage minimum, so a single neglected outparcel is as workable as twenty acres.

Slope is not the limiting factor either. We cut retention pond banks and side slopes, and there is no slope angle in South Florida steep enough to stop the equipment.

The One Real Limit: Water

A skid steer cannot work in standing water or in completely saturated ground, so a wet basin is a scheduling question rather than a capability one. We cut dry and semi-dry retention areas. Where a basin is holding water or the ground has not drained after heavy rain, the cut waits for it to dry rather than the machine tearing up the bank trying.

In practice this means booking basin work with the weather in mind, and it is worth raising when you call rather than discovering it when a crew is on site.

One Cut, or a Schedule

Both. A single cut is enough where a lot has been let go or a notice has arrived. After that, we run whatever frequency suits the property. Monthly keeps a visible parcel presentable. Quarterly suits vacant land that only needs keeping clear of brush. Ad hoc works where a site only needs attention before an inspection, a showing or a season.

Dumped Material and Debris

An overgrown lot can hide more than vegetation, and it is better settled before a crew arrives than argued afterwards. We remove trash where it can be lifted and put into the back of a dump truck. Anything needing its own machine to move, a derelict vehicle or a slab for instance, sits outside the scope.

Where cuttings go matters too, and not only for appearance. Palm Springs names privately employed tree trimmers, tree surgeons and landscape contractors in its code and requires them to remove all trash and debris from the premises, and the village charges the company a special collection rate plus an administrative fee for vegetative waste left at the kerb. Oakland Park limits bulk trimmings to eight feet long and eight inches in diameter.

What the Site Needs Before We Start

The skid steer needs a minimum seven foot opening to get in. That is worth measuring before you call, because a gate, a pair of bollards or a narrow service alley decides the job before anything else does. Where access is the constraint, temporarily taking down a section of fence solves it.

If This Started With a Code Notice

Overgrowth is straightforward for a code officer to cite, because the standard in these ordinances is a measurement. Jupiter sets six inches on developed nonresidential property, eight on developed residential and twelve on vacant land. Margate uses six inches on improved property and twelve elsewhere. Westlake sets eight inches and expressly includes the swale, the strip between the pavement edge and the lot line.

Two details are worth knowing because they catch people who thought they had complied. El Portal sets nine inches and makes leaving stumps or debris that would damage a power mower a violation in its own right, so a rough cut that leaves obstacles behind does not clear the notice. North Miami Beach codifies the one-third rule, requiring that mowing happen often enough that no more than a third of the blade height comes off at a time, which is a maintenance standard rather than a single-cut one.

If a notice is what brought you here, our code violation corrections service handles the whole response, including the parts of a citation that are not about height.

Getting a Number

Price follows the acreage, how heavy the growth is, whether basin banks are in scope, and how much dumped material is on the site. We look at the property, tell you which of those apply, and quote against them. TWQ Landscaping cuts lots and basins for community associations and condominiums, commercial and industrial sites, municipal grounds, self-storage, marinas, mobile home and RV parks, retail outparcels, vacant landowners and mixed-use property across Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade.
